Midden-Drenthe is a municipality in the northeastern . The municipality was created in 1998, in a merger of the former municipalities of , , and . Between 1998 and 2000, the name of the municipality was Middenveld.

Beilen is a railway station located in , . The station was opened on 1 May 1870, closed on 15 May 1938 and reopened on 1 June 1940. The station is located on the Meppel–Groningen railway. The services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
