Zarechny, formerly named Penza-19 from 1962 to 1992, is a closed town in Penza Oblast, Russia, located 12 kilometers east of Penza. Population: 63,601 ; 62,970 . Zarechnyy is situated 4½ km northeast of Studënyy.

Penza is the large industrial capital of Penza Oblast in Russia. It has its origins like other former frontier towns of Russia as a fort to protect against attacks by the Tatars, its founding being around the mid-17th century.
