Qaraqosh is a city in the Nineveh Governorate, of Iraq located about 32 kilometres southeast of the city of Mosul and 60 kilometres west of Erbil amid agricultural lands, close to the ruins of the ancient Assyrian cities Kalhu and Nineveh. Al-Hamdaniya District is situated 8 km east of Tall Ashūr al Atharī.

Hamam al-Alil is a spa town about 27 km south of Mosul in the Nineveh Governorate in Iraq, on the western bank of the Tigris River. It is well known for its mineral water springs and receives visitors from all over Iraq seeking treatment due to the various purported medical benefits of the sulfur-rich geothermal waters. Hamam al Alil is situated 10 km south of Tall Ashūr al Atharī.
