Dartmoor Zoological Society is a 33-acre zoo just north of the village of Sparkwell, on the south-west edge of Dartmoor, in the county of Devon in the South West of England.

Langage Power Station is a combined-cycle power plant near the city of Plymouth in Devon, England. Centrica, the original owners of the site, announced on 16 June 2006 that the natural gas fired power station was to be constructed on their behalf by Alstom.

It was an important trading centre for locally mined tin, and a seaport before the River Plym silted up and trade moved down river to Plymouth and was the seat of Plympton Priory the most significant local landholder for many centuries. Plympton is situated 3 miles west of Sparkwell.
