Coanwood is a village in Northumberland, England, and is part of the Parish of Haltwhistle. It is about four miles to the south-west of Haltwhistle, on the South Tyne.

It contrived to be named for a railway halt over 600 years before that railway arrived: Hautwysel means a hill between two forks of a river.
