Wieliczka Salt Mine

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is a salt mine in the town of Wieliczka, near Kraków in southern Poland. From Neolithic times, sodium chloride was produced there from the upwelling brine. Wieliczka Salt Mine is situated 3 km west of Tomaszkowice.

The castle is located in the former mine complex and was designated as part of the Wieliczka and Bochnia UNESCO World Heritage Site, since an expansion in 2013. Żupny Castle is situated 3 km west of Tomaszkowice.
