Kigali was named by King Cyirima I Rugwe in the 14th century by naming now known as Mount Kigali. The Kandt House Museum, formerly known as the Natural History Museum, is located in what is now the city of Kigali, Nyarugenge District, westbound. Kandt House Museum of Natural History is situated 3½ km east of Ruhondo.
