The Dome of the Rock is an octagonal Islamic shrine at the center of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is the world's oldest surviving work of Islamic architecture, the earliest archaeologically-attested religious structure to be built by a Muslim ruler and contains the earliest inscriptions proclaiming Islam and the prophet Muhammad.

Ras al-Amud is a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem located southeast of the Old City of Jerusalem. The Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan lies to the south, Abu Dis and al-Eizariya to the east, and the Jewish neighborhood of Ma'ale HaZeitim to the north.

At-Tur is a neighborhood on the Mount of Olives approximately 1 km east of the Old City of Jerusalem. At-Tur is situated in East Jerusalem, occupied and later effectively annexed by Israel after the Six-Day War in 1967.
