The Balkan Mountains region of Bulgaria consists of the most representative, central parts of the Balkan Mountains themselves - the namesake of the Balkan Peninsula, a 560-kilometre long mountain range that runs from the border between Bulgaria and Serbia to the Black Sea coast.
