The municipality was established merging with existing Janalibandali, Kuntibandali, Oligau, Jupu, Kalagaun and Mangalsen village development committees on 18 May 2014. Jupu is situated 3½ km west of Rol.

It was established on 18 May 2014 by merger of the former Village development committees of Janalibandali, Kuntibandali, Oligaun, Jupu, Kalagaun into its current form. Mangalsen is situated 8 km west of Rol.
