Peron Battery

The Peron Battery, at Cape Peron, was the southernmost of the Fremantle Fortress coastal defence batteries in Western Australia. Also referred to as K Heavy Battery, it was established in January 1943 and, like the Challenger Battery on near-by Garden Island, it was equipped with two mobile 155 mm guns. Peron Battery is situated 240 metres northwest of Point Peron Camp School.

Bird Island is the name of three islands in Western Australia. Two are in the Kimberley region, and the third is off the coast of Rockingham, about 2 kilometres south of Garden Island.

Shoalwater is an outer southern suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, located within the City of Rockingham. Shoalwater is located within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park which includes Shoalwater Bay, Warnbro Sound, Cape Peron and several small islands being Penguin island, Seal Island and Shag Rock. Shoalwater is situated 3½ km southeast of Point Peron Camp School.

An unsung hero of the metro area, it is often left off tourist radars, but it is well worth a visit for its stunning beaches and laid back coastal lifestyle.
