Monteith is a rural locality inside a bend on the east bank of the Murray River downstream of Murray Bridge on the other bank. It is governed by the Rural City of Murray Bridge.

The locality was named after the Riverglen Irrigation Area in March 2000. Riverglen is situated 5 km northwest of Monteith Lagoon.
