Shimoni is a port village and tourist destination in Lunga Lunga Constituency, Kwale County. It is in southeastern Kenya near the border with Tanzania and directly across from Wasini Island.

Village
Mkwiro is a fishing village located on Wasini Island, 2 km off the Kenyan coast. It is easily seen from the shores of Shimoni, Kenya. Mkwiro Primary School is the only school in the village, covering kindergarten and standards one through eight. Mkwiro is situated 2½ km southeast of Shimoni.
