Balestrand is a former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. The 429-square-kilometre municipality existed from 1850 until its dissolution in 2020.

Vikøyri is a village of 1200 people on the south side of the Sognefjorden. The medieval churches Hove Church and Hopperstad Stave Church, as well as Vik Church from 1877, are located here. It is the administrative center of the municipality of Vik.
