Al-Azhar Mosque, known in Egypt simply as al-Azhar, is a mosque in the historic Islamic core of the city of Cairo, Egypt. Commissioned as the new capital of the Fatimid Caliphate in 970 CE, it was the first mosque established in a city that eventually earned the nickname "the City of a Thousand Minarets". Al-Azhar Mosque is situated 1 km southeast of Kanīsat al-ʻAdhrāʼ.

The Aqmar Mosque or al-Aqmar Mosque, is a mosque located in Cairo, Egypt. Built as a neighborhood mosque by the Fatimid vizier al-Ma'mun al-Bata'ihi in 1125, the mosque is situated on what was once the main avenue and ceremonial heart of Cairo, known today as al-Mu'izz Street, in the immediate neighborhood of the former Fatimid caliphal palaces. Aqmar Mosque is situated 440 metres east of Kanīsat al-ʻAdhrāʼ.

The Beshtak Palace or Qasr Bashtak is a historic palace and museum in Cairo, Egypt, built in the 14th century by the Mamluk amir Sayf al-Din Bashtak al-Nasiri. It is located on Shari'a al-Mu'izz, in the area known as Bayn al-Qasrayn. Beshtak Palace is situated 440 metres southeast of Kanīsat al-ʻAdhrāʼ.
