The town is bordered on the north La Heredad Ranch ranching The Homestead, south to the Tajo de Tequixquiac, east village Hueypoxtla and west by the town of Santiago Tequixquiac. Tlapanaloya is situated 7 km southeast of Colonia Santa Cecilia.
