Opened in 1877, the station is a junction of three lines, the Trento–Venice railway, the Vicenza–Treviso railway and the Calalzo–Padua railway, respectively. Castelfranco Veneto railway station is situated 3 km southwest of Serraglio.

The community's name, much like that of Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII, commemorates its most famous son, Giuseppe Melchiore Sarto, who later became Pope Pius X. Riese Pio X is situated 5 km northwest of Serraglio.
