The village is located along the river Gausa, about 10 kilometres southeast of the Skeikampen alpine skiing centre and about 10 kilometres to the northwest of the village of Segalstad bru and about 7 kilometres to the west of the village of Tretten in the neighboring Øyer Municipality. Svingvoll is situated 3½ km west of Øygardshaugen.

The village sits along the north side of the river Jøra, about 3 kilometres to the northwest of the village of Follebu and about 5 kilometres to the northeast of the village of Forset. Segalstad bru is situated 7 km south of Øygardshaugen.
