Huế is the southernmost coastal city in the North Central Coast region, the Central of Vietnam, approximately in the center of the country. It borders Quảng Trị to the north, Đà Nẵng to the south, Salavan of Laos to the west and the South China Sea to the east.

Tự Do Stadium or Sân vận động Tự Do is located in Thuận Hóa district, Huế, Vietnam. It has a capacity of 25,000 seats. The stadium was constructed by the French colonialists in the early 1930s, at which time it was given the name "Stade Olympique de Hué". Independence Stadium is situated 390 metres east of Midtown Hotel Hue.
