Malaysia is a country in Southeast Asia, on the Malay Peninsula, as well as on northern Borneo. The country is one of Asia's tiger economies, having seen great economic and human development during the last several decades.

Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia with great food and a wealth of natural and cultural attractions. Despite the turmoil of the Vietnam War, Vietnam has emerged from the ashes since the 1990s and is undergoing rapid economic development, driven by its young and industrious population.

The Kingdom of Cambodia is in Southeast Asia. While the Angkor Wat commemorates Cambodia's glorious history, the country has been ravaged by colonialism, the Indochina Wars, and the Khmer Rouge regime, and remains one of Asia's poorest countries.

Laos is the only landlocked nation in Southeast Asia. Formerly a French colony, it is one of the few remaining communist states in the world, but Laotian official ideology is closer to the Chinese one.

Singapore is a city-state in Southeast Asia. Modern Singapore was founded as a British trading colony in 1819, and since independence, it has become one of the world's most prosperous countries and boasts one of the world's busiest ports.
Timor-Leste

The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, commonly known as Timor-Leste or East Timor, is one of the world's newest countries: after a long struggle, it gained independence from Indonesia in 2002 and is now an off-the-beaten-path destination for diving and adventure.
