Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 10 kilometres from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India. It is the longest earthen dam in the world. Hirakud Dam is situated 3 km southwest of Silipathar.
Hirakud Captive Power Plant
Power station
Hirakud Power Plant is a coal based captive thermal power plant located near Hirakud in Sambalpur district in the Indian state of Odisha. The power plant began commercial production in April 2013, is operated by the Hindalco Industries. Hirakud Captive Power Plant is situated 3½ km east of Silipathar.
