The Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi is an Eastern Orthodox monastery on Mount Athos, Greece. The monastery was expanded several times during its history, particularly during the Byzantine period and in the 18th and 19th centuries. Vatopedi monastery is situated 3 km southeast of Akra Thimonia.

Hilandar Monastery

The Hilandar Monastery is one of the twenty Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Mount Athos in Greece and the only Serbian Orthodox monastery there. It was founded in 1198 by two Serbs from the Grand Principality of Serbia, Stefan Nemanja and his son Saint Sava. Hilandar Monastery is situated 6 km west of Akra Thimonia.
