Ilam is one of four urban municipalities of Ilam District, which lies in the Mahabharata hilly range of Koshi Province, eastern Nepal. Ilam also acts as the headquarters of Ilam District. Ilam Municipality is situated 5 km southwest of Loksāṅ.
