Tahrir Square, also known as Martyr Square, is a public town square in downtown Cairo, Cairo, Egypt. It was first established in 1867. The square has been the location and focus for political demonstrations. Tahrir Square is situated 1½ km southwest of Palais Tigrane.

Ramses Railway Station, also called Misr Station, is the main railway station of Cairo, Egypt. The name is derived from the Ancient Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II, whose statue was erected by former Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser on the square there in 1955. Ramses Railway Station is situated 660 metres north of Palais Tigrane.
