Tomen y Rhodwydd is a motte-and-bailey castle built by Owain Gwynedd to protect the borders of Gwynedd Is Conwy. It stands in an area of fields and low hills to the south of Llandegla-yn-Iâl, Wales.

Llanarmon-yn-Iâl is a village, and local government community, in Denbighshire, Wales, lying in limestone country in the valley of the River Alyn. The community is part of an electoral ward called Llanarmon-yn-Iâl/Llandegla. Llanarmon-yn-Iâl is situated 2½ miles north of Pen-y-stryt.

Graianrhyd, also spelt Graeanrhyd, is a small, scattered village in the community of Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, Denbighshire, Wales. It lies in hilly limestone country around 2 miles to the east of Llanarmon-yn-Iâl village, and just to the south of Eryrys. Graianrhyd is situated 3 miles north of Pen-y-stryt.

Rhydtalog is a small, isolated village in Flintshire, Wales. It lies in hilly country on the border with Denbighshire in the community of Treuddyn. The current name translates as "Talog's ford", but it was given as "Rhydhalawg" in 1699, and it seems likely that it was originally Rhydhalog, "dirty ford", and later changed due to the old name's negative associations. Rhydtalog is situated 3 miles northeast of Pen-y-stryt.
