The Gare du Nord, officially Paris Nord, is one of the seven large mainline railway station termini in Paris, France. The station is served by trains that run between the capital and northern France via the Paris–Lille railway, as well as to international destinations in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Paris Nord is situated 200 metres southeast of Rue Saint-Vincent-de-Paul.

Lariboisière Hospital is a hospital in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, France. The hospital was one of several built following the second cholera pandemic, which had reached Paris in 1832, and which led to a new emphasis on hygienic practices in hospitals. Lariboisière Hospital is situated 180 metres north of Rue Saint-Vincent-de-Paul.

The Gare de l'Est, officially Paris Est, is one of the seven large mainline railway station termini in Paris, France. It is located in the 10th arrondissement, not far southeast from the Gare du Nord, facing the Boulevard de Strasbourg, part of the north–south axis of Paris created by Georges-Eugène Haussmann. Gare de Paris-Est is situated 690 metres southeast of Rue Saint-Vincent-de-Paul.

Montmartre is a large hill in Paris's northern 18th arrondissement. It is 130 m high and gives its name to the surrounding district, part of the Right Bank.

The 18th arrondissement of Paris is probably best known for the hill of Montmartre which was the centre of the Communard uprising of the late-nineteenth century, but is also perhaps better known as the centre of the flourishing artist community of the period from around 1907-1914.
