The Corycian Cave is located in central Greece on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassus, in Parnassus National Park, which is situated north of Delphi.

The Castalian Spring, in the ravine between the Phaedriades at Delphi, is where all visitors to Delphi — the contestants in the Pythian Games, and especially pilgrims who came to consult the Delphic Oracle — stopped to wash themselves and quench their thirst; it is also here that the Pythia and the priests cleansed themselves before the oracle-giving process. Castalian Spring is situated 4 km south of Corycian cave.

The modern village sits north of the ancient town of Crissa, a powerful city-state of ancient Greece which gave its name to the Crissaean plain and the Crissaean Gulf and lies in the southwestern foothills of Mount Parnassus. Chrisso is situated 6 km southwest of Corycian cave.
