Whaw

St Mary the Virgin's Church is the parish church of Arkengarthdale, a valley in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a mediaeval church in Arkle Town in Arkengarthdale, but its foundations were undermined by the Arkle Beck, and it was pulled down in the 1810s. St Mary the Virgin’s Church, Arkengarthdale is situated 1½ miles southeast of Whaw.

It is the main settlement in the dale and is one of the most northerly settlements in the whole of Yorkshire Dales National Park. Langthwaite is situated 2 miles southeast of Whaw.
