The Bangkok Metropolitan Region, may refer to a government-defined "political definition" of the urban region surrounding the metropolis of Bangkok, or the built-up area, i.e, urban agglomeration of , , which varies in size and shape, and gets filled in as development expands.

is a high-end area in with fancy condominiums, hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs. It has attracted affluent Thais and expats from all over the world.

is the closest Bangkok gets to Wall Street, with glistening skyscrapers all boasting the names of financial institutions. However, the character of the area changes after nightfall: the small sois between Road and Surawong Road come alive with people who are out for a good time, and Patpong's well-known "red light" district is often a sought-out location.
