Diamond Fields
The Diamond Fields is in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is one of the most important diamond-mining areas on Earth In 2001, this predominantly mining and agricultural district was renamed "Frances Baard District Municipality", in honor of an ethnic Tswana trade unionist, and organiser for the African National Congress Women's League.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Barkly West lies just off the R31, north-west of Kimberley, in the Northern Cape. Formerly known as Klipdrift, the first digging activity took place here in 1869 following the discovery of diamonds on the De Kalk farm.
