Abashiri is a city located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Abashiri is known as the site of the Abashiri Prison, a Meiji-era facility used for the incarceration of political prisoners.

Monbetsu is a city located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan; on the Sea of Okhotsk. The name comes from Ainu Mopet, Ainu "-pet" would be interpreted "-betsu" in Japanese as well of other city names in Hokkaido.

Nemuro is a city in Hokkaido, and the easternmost city in Japan. It is famous for its seafood, dairy industry, bird-watching, and wild nature preserves.

Akan Mashū National Park is a large national park in the eastern part of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. In the name, Mashū was added in 2017.
Daisetsuzan National Park

Daisetsuzan National Park is in the mountainous center of the island of Hokkaido. Formed by a large number of volcanoes which get mostly covered in snow during the winter, the Daisetsuzan is truly a land of ice and fire, with some of the most amazing landscapes of Hokkaido and Japan.
Engaru

Engaru is a town in the Okhotsk subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The name comes from the Ainu place name Inkar-us-i, meaning a lookout point. On October 1, 2005, the towns of Ikutahara and Maruseppu, and the village of Shirataki, all from Monbetsu District merged into the expanded town of Engaru.
Bihoro

Bihoro is a town located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. The name is derived from the Ainu word piporo, meaning "place of much water". Largely agricultural, the town is best known for the Bihoro Pass, which has views over Lake Kussharo in the Akan National Park.

Rausu is a town in Nemuro, Hokkaido, and is one of the gateways to the Shiretoko National Park. The town occupies the southern half of the Shiretoko Peninsula facing Kunashir, Russia across the Nemuro Strait.

Ōzora is a town located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Ōzora was formed on March 31, 2006, as a result of the merger of the town of Memanbetsu, and the village of Higashimokoto.
Nakashibetsu

Nakashibetsu is a town located in Nemuro Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. As of March 31, 2008, it has an estimated population of 23,958, and an area of 684.98 km2. Nakashibetsu Airport, the easternmost airport in mainland Japan, is located in the town.

Kamishihoro is a town in Tokachi, in the far north of Hokkaido, Japan. South area of the town is located on Tokachi Plain, where the town center resides.
