Lake Natron
Lake Natron is a shallow alkaline lake in the remote northern part of Tanzania, close to the border with Kenya. Surrounded by volcanic mountains, salt flats and semi-desert, it is best known as East Africa's principal breeding site for the lesser flamingo and as the base for climbing the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai.Photo: NASA, Public domain.
