The medieval is situated near the old harbour in the heart of the historical centre of the city of Limassol. The castle as it appears today is a structure rebuilt circa 1590 under the period of Ottoman rule.

The is located within the Limassol Public Gardens, is a 15 acres zoological garden in Limassol, . It was founded by Mayor Kostas Partaside in 1956. After substantial renovations, the was reopened in 2012.
