The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is a national museum in Cairo, Egypt. The museum displays a collection of 50,000 artifacts, presenting the Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the modern era. National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is situated 570 metres southwest of Dragon Island Park.

Fustat, also Fostat, was the first capital of Egypt under Muslim rule, though it has been integrated into Cairo. It was built adjacent to what is now known as Old Cairo by the Rashidun Muslim general 'Amr ibn al-'As immediately after the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 641, and featured the Mosque of Amr, the first mosque built in Egypt. Fustat is situated 2 km west of Dragon Island Park.

The Mausoleum of Imam al-Shafi'i is a mausoleum dedicated to al-Shafi'i, founder of the homonymous school of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence. Located at the Imam Shafi'i Street in the City of the Dead, Cairo, the mausoleum is a hallmark of Ayyubid style architecture and historical significance. Mausoleum of Imam al-Shafi’i is situated 430 metres northeast of Dragon Island Park.

It is known for its traditional restaurants, it also has the Qal'at al-Kabsh neighbourhood, which is one of the famous areas in the district, and the Ibn Tulun Mosque.

Ma'adi is a leafy and formerly suburban district of Cairo, south of the city center on the eastern bank of the Nile. Ma'adi was established in 1904, when a railway was built through the area to connect Cairo and Helwan to the south.
