Construction of the Garden of Serenity began in September 1996 as a gift to Malta from the People's Republic of China. The Prime Minister, Alfred Sant, opened it on 7 July 1997. Chinese Garden of Serenity is situated 1½ km northeast of Butlers.

Ta' Ġawhar Tower is a round Punic-Roman tower in the village of Safi, Malta. The tower is the best preserved of the six Punic-Roman towers in Malta at approximately seven wall courses high. Ta’ Ġawhar Tower is situated 2 km south of Butlers.
