The Kāneiolouma Complex
The Kāneiolouma Complex is an ancient Hawaiian village on the south shore of the island of Kauaʻi in Kauaʻi County in the U.S. state of Hawaiʻi. The 13-acre archaeological site includes taro patches, fishponds, heiau, shrines, and house sites, with a Makahiki sporting arena in the middle. The Makauwahi Cave is the largest limestone cave found in Hawaii. It lies on the south coast of the island of Kauaʻi, in the Māhāʻulepū Valley close to Māhāʻulepū Beach, and is important for its paleoecological and archaeological values. Makauwahi Cave is situated 1¼ miles northeast of Ruins.
