The station was a stop on the Ankara suburban from 1972 to 2016 when it was closed and demolished shortly after, in order to rebuild and expand the railway. Özgüneş railway station is situated 1½ km northeast of Ahi Evran.

Once Başkentray commuter rail service begins in April, the station will become a transfer point between YHT high-speed trains and local commuter trains, replacing Sincan station. Eryaman YHT railway station is situated 2 km north of Ahi Evran.
