From 1976–1989, 1999–2004, and 2007–2008, the mission was known as the Embassy of India, Islamabad due to Pakistan's withdrawal or suspension from the Commonwealth of Nations during those time periods. High Commission of India is situated 130 metres northwest of Indian Embassy.
