The Northwest African American Museum is a museum in Seattle, Washington's historically African-American Central District neighborhood. The museum aims to present and preserve the connections between the Pacific Northwest and people of African descent and investigate and celebrate Black experiences in America through exhibitions, programs and events. Jimi Hendrix Park is a 2.3-acre park in Seattle, Washington named in honor of musician Jimi Hendrix, who was from Seattle. The park was named in 2006, and the opening of the park was announced in December, 2011 at the Northwest African American Museum, adjacent to the park, with an opening planned for 2012 to mark the 70th anniversary of the musician's birth. Jimi Hendrix Park is situated 1,500 feet southwest of The Philosophical Promenade.
