The São Paulo Zoo, located in the South Zone of the city, is the largest zoo in Brazil. With 824,529 m2 of space in what was originally the Atlantic Forest, it is home to the spring of the historic Ipiranga Brook and has four kilometers of pathways. São Paulo Zoo is situated 3 km south of Cursino.

Jabaquara is one of 96 districts in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The name Jabaquara comes from tupi, îababa and kûara. Most probably due to several quilombos that existed in the area. Jabaquara is situated 3½ km southwest of Cursino.
