Chaung-U is a town located in Monywa District, Sagaing Region, Myanmar. It is the principal town of Chaung-U Township. During the Bagan Dynasty, under King Popa Saw Rahan, it was known as "San Tauk Village"and was inhabited by diverse ethnic groups including Kayin, Shan and Lawah peoples. Chaung-U is situated 6 miles north of Nga Lone Tin.
