Askøy is an island in Hordaland county, Norway. Located directly north-west of Bergen, parts of the island functions as a suburb of the city. However, particularly the northern and western parts of the 30 km long island have beautiful rural landscapes, culminating in the small island community of Herdla, linked to Askøy by a short bridge.

While Indre Arna is relatively far from most of the city centre of Bergen by road, there is an 8-minute train journey through the mountain Ulriken from Indre Arna to the city centre. Arna Church and Arna Station are both located in the village. Indre Arna is situated 7 km east of Sandviksfjellet.
