Founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII, Trinity is one of the largest Cambridge colleges, with the largest financial endowment of any college at Oxford or Cambridge. Built after the Norman Conquest of England in 1066 to control the strategically important route to the north of England, it played a role in the conflicts of the Anarchy and the First and Second Barons' Wars.
