Woodhead reservoir is a man-made lake near the hamlet of Woodhead in Longdendale in north Derbyshire, England. It was constructed by John Frederick Bateman between 1847 and June 1877 as part of the Longdendale Chain of reservoirs to supply water from the River Etherow to the urban areas of Greater Manchester.

Black Hill, in the Peak District, is the highest hill in West Yorkshire, England. Its summit rises to an elevation of 582 m above sea level. It is surpassed in height by only two other major summits in the Peak District. Black Hill is situated 2 miles northwest of Withens Moor.

It lies on the trans-Pennine A628 road connecting Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire, 6 miles north of Glossop, 19 miles east of Manchester and 18 miles west of Barnsley. Woodhead is situated 1½ miles southeast of Withens Moor.
