Republic Square, also known as Independence Square or New Square is the main square in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is used for public events. The former presidential palace, later used as municipal offices, sat on its south side until 2022. Republic Square is situated 340 metres northeast of Republic Square.

The Central State Museum of Kazakhstan is the largest museum in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and one of the largest museums in Central Asia. When first established in 1931, the museum was located in the Almaty Cathedral. Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is situated 750 metres east of Republic Square.
