The academy traces its history back to the Department of Arts founded at the Warsaw University in the Duchy of Warsaw in 1812. The Presidential Palace is the official residence of the Polish head of state and president alongside the Belweder Palace, located in Warsaw, Poland. Originally constructed in 1643 as an aristocratic mansion, it was rebuilt and remodelled several times over the course of its existence by notable architects. Presidential Palace is situated 300 metres north of Museum of the University of Warsaw.

The Czapski Palace is a palatial complex in the center of Warsaw, located at 5 Krakowskie Przedmieście. It was constructed in about 1686 for the Catholic Primate of Poland, Michał Stefan Radziejowski, using a design by the Dutch-born Polish architect and engineer Tylman van Gameren. Czapski Palace is situated 160 metres southwest of Museum of the University of Warsaw.
