Nufenen Pass

Nufenen Pass is the second highest mountain pass, after Umbrail Pass, with a paved road in Switzerland, at an elevation of 2,478 metres. It lies between the summits of Pizzo Gallina and the Nufenenstock.

Griessee

Griessee is a lake in Valais, Switzerland. The reservoir is located in the municipality of Ulrichen and can be reached by road from Nufenen Pass. The lake is fed by the Gries Glacier. Its surface area is 55.5 ha. The gravity dam Gries was built in 1965.

Gries Pass is a 2,469-metre-high mountain pass between Valais, Switzerland, and Formazza, Italy. There is no road over the pass, from Nufenen Pass the paved road ends and a bridle path leads over to the Italian side. Gries Pass is situated 2½ km south of Bochtestafel.

Obergesteln was an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with Oberwald and Ulrichen to form the municipality Obergoms. Obergesteln is situated 5 km northwest of Bochtestafel.
