Independence Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bakau, Gambia. It is currently used mostly for football matches, although it is also used for athletics, concerts, political events, trade fairs and national celebrations. The stadium holds 20,000 people. Independence Stadium is situated 3 km east of Kotu beach.

The primary hotels are located on "The Strip" which is a short road leading to the beach and the hotels of Senegambia and the Kairaba. Kololi is situated 3 km southwest of Kotu beach.
