Trajan's Bridge, also called Bridge of Apollodorus over the Danube, was a Roman segmental arch bridge, on the modern Serbian - Romanian border, the first bridge to be built over the lower Danube and considered one of the greatest achievements in Roman architecture. Trajan’s Bridge Pillar is situated 1 km north of Trajan’s Bridge.

The Drobeta was a fort built by Emperor Trajan in the province of Roman Dacia, in the present city Drobeta-Turnu Severin. It was built to protect the northern side of Trajan's Bridge across the Danube which was built quickly in preparation for Trajan's Second Dacian War in 103-105 AD. Castra of Drobeta is situated 1¼ km north of Trajan’s Bridge.
