Gryet, some 4 kilometres west of Nexø and just north of Bodilsker on the Danish island of Bornholm, is a site with one of Denmark's largest collections of megaliths with tall upright stones standing among the trees in a little wood. Gryet is situated 1½ km southwest of Slingestenen.

Nexø, sometimes spelled Neksø, is a town on the east coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. With a population of 3,657, it is the second largest town, as well as the largest fishing port on the island.

Aarsdale is a village on the eastern coast of the Baltic island of Bornholm, Denmark. Located between Svaneke and Nexø, it has a population of 266. Once a prosperous fishing village, its economy now relies mainly on tourism thanks to its half-timbered houses, its harbour and its windmill. Aarsdale is situated 4½ km northeast of Slingestenen.

Stenseby is a small settlement near St Bodil's Church in the southeast of the Danish island of Bornholm. For a time, an active community grew up around Bodilsker Station on the Rønne–Nexø railway which operated from 1900 to 1968. Stenseby is situated 5 km south of Slingestenen.
